November 2024 Cats & Dogs by David McPhail and Jan L. Waldron

About the Artists

Meet David McPhail & Jan L. Waldron. This month’s exhibit is unique in that it is a collection of works by a husband and wife team.

David McPhail was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts and attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. While there, he began illustrating. (You may know his picture books!) His first book was “The RUN JUMP BUMP Book” by Robert Brooks – published by Little Brown and Company, Boston. Later that same year (1971), the first of his own stories was published in “In the Summer I Go Fishing.” In 1972, He has continued to write and illustrate and there are now well over 200 books with his name on them.

Jan L. Waldron, an artist who delves into the realms of oil, acrylics, mixed media, watercolors, ink, graphite, and photography, refuses to confine creativity within boundaries. Jan fixates on the interplay of light and shadows, on the nuances of colors. Each canvas often emerges from a fusion of gathered impressions intertwined with profound emotional echoes — a whisper of belonging, echoes of youthful summers, or visions of tranquil hideaways.
