Working with beeswax, damar resin, and pigment, Alisa creates bold, vibrant compositions that explore memory, emotion, resilience, and the expressive power of color. Through the process of melting and fusing layers with heat, she builds richly textured surfaces that hold depth, movement, and light. She pairs her visual art with her original poetry, allowing color and words to tell a story together.
Because sometimes color speaks when words can’t.
Artist Biography: Alisa Marie (b. 1968, Peabody, Massachusetts) comes from a long line of artists and entrepreneurs. Surrounded by art and music from an early age, she developed a deep appreciation for creative expression. She currently resides in New Hampshire and is a dedicated self-taught encaustic artist who brings a fresh and contemporary perspective to this ancient wax-based medium.
Her encaustic journey began in 2013 following a traumatic brain injury, when she turned to art as a way to heal and reconnect with herself. What began as a personal creative outlet grew into a deeper exploration of color, healing, and creative expression.
Working with beeswax, damar resin, and pigment, Alisa creates bold, vibrant compositions that explore memory, emotion, resilience, and the expressive power of color. Through the process of melting and fusing layers with heat, she builds richly textured surfaces that hold depth, movement, and light. She pairs her visual art with her original poetry, allowing color and words to tell a story together.
Alisa’s work has been exhibited in galleries and businesses throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts and featured in international digital exhibitions in Rome, Italy, and Barcelona, Spain. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, the Encaustic Art Institute, and International Encaustic Artists. She maintains an active studio practice at the Lane House Arts Center in Hampton, New Hampshire.
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Alisa established Alisa Marie Art & Design to share her work beyond the studio, allowing her art to live in many forms and reach people in their everyday lives.
Outside the studio, she draws inspiration from baking, cooking, writing poetry, singing, and reading, creative practices that continue to nourish and inspire her work.
