PUBLIC HEARING

Good Afternoon,

On behalf of the North Hampton Public Library Director and Trustees we wanted to make sure you know that The North Hampton Select Board will conduct a Public Hearing at 7pm on Monday, October 28, 2013 in the Town Hall, 231 Atlantic Avenue, to take input from citizens regarding the design for a new Town Municipal Complex.  We hope that your schedule allows you to attend this important meeting.

The new Municipal Facilities involves new construction of about 26,000 sq ft consisting of a public safety center (17,000 sq ft) and a new Public Library and Cultural Center (9,000 sq ft). The existing police department would be renovated to provide 8,000 sq ft of administrative space, including a place to store the Town’s records. The projected cost of the proposal is just over $6 million.  Our goal is to share the cost of the new Public Library and Cultural Center by raising monies from Town funds and monies raised from private donations.  Initial cost estimates for the Public Library and Cultural Center portion of the complex is in the $2.2-$2.5 million range.

The library has been actively involved in the Town Charrette, the town’s Municipal Facilities Committee, the CIP, as well as the Select Board meetings.   In addition, we have been actively working with our Architect, Ron Lamarre from Lavalle Brensinger of Manchester NH to prepare preliminary designs of the new building.  While there still several design elements that still need to be finalized, we are very encouraged by the progress that has taken place thus far.  A copy of the Lavallee Brensinger’s presentation is available on the Town’s website, http://www.northhampton-nh.gov/Public_Documents/lavalleebrensinger10142013.pdf, or at the Town Administrative Offices, the Town Clerk’s office and the Library.

If you are not able to attend but would like to give your feedback on the Municipal Complex, please be sure to send your comments to our Town Administrator, Paul Apple, by email at papple@northhampton-nh.gov.  If you’d like a tour of the existing library to better understand why this proposal is being brought to you please call Susan Grant, Library Director, 964-6326.   To tour the Fire, Police and Administrative Offices, please contact Town Administrator, Paul Apple at 603-964-8087 to arrange a time that is convenient for you.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.  We sincerely appreciate your support!
