Children’s Librarian, Part-time, North Hampton Public Library

Title:  Children’s Librarian, North Hampton Public Library
Summary: North Hampton Public Library is looking for a dynamic Children’s Librarian for children ages 0-11. This is a part-time 26 hour per week position starting April 15, 2020. Includes some nights and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in the use of computers for word processing, desktop publishing,  production of promotional materials, internet searching and email functions.
  • Has a knowledge of current library methods, practices and procedures relating to library services for children.  Is proficient in the use of automated library catalogs and circulation processes.
  • Knows library practices in acquisitions and collection maintenance and has strong reference skills.
  • Has effective oral and written communications skills, works well with the public and has excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with and promote library services to schools and community groups and may effectively manage volunteers.
  • Advocate for children’s services and provide creative and engaging programming and excellent materials for children ages 0-11.  
  • Regularly required to drive, move, bend, reach and lift boxes of books
  • Work at the circulation desk as needed

Benefits: Vacation and sick benefits. (no medical benefits).

Wages:  $20 – $22 per hour based on qualifications.

Education & Experience: Qualified candidates will have a Master’s Degree in Library Science and two years’ experience in children’s library services or equivalent combination of training and experience that provides similar knowledge, ability and skills.
